5.1 Attendance
Students are required by law to attend school until they attain the age of 18 years . All students who register to attend school have made a commitment to attend classes and to diligently pursue their studies.Regular attendance is a key factor in school success. It fosters a positive self image that will enhance the success of each student.
5.1.1 Regular attendance encourages success by:s curricular and extra-curricular programs.
5.1.2 When Absent:
If students are under 18 years of age, a verbal notification or note written by the parent and/or guardian must come from home each time that they are absent and given to the attendance secretary in the Attendance Office.
Students 18 years of age and older must submit a written and legitimate reason for absence to the Attendance Office.A medical note must be provided for Authentic Evaluation and Examination days.
5.1.3 When Late:
If students are late after home form attendance has been taken or after lunch, they must go to the Attendance Office for an admit slip and sign in. Lates between classes will be handled by the teacher.
5.1.4 Signing Out Procedures:
C Students who have to leave school during the school day for an appointment must report to the Attendance Office with a note from their parent or guardian before home room period, at lunch or during breaks. A call may be made to confirm the note.
C When students return to school from their appointment, they must go to the Attendance Office to sign in and to receive an admit slip.
C If students do not return to school after lunch, they must call the school and inform the Attendance Secretary of the reason for their absence. Failure to sign out of school is treated as an unexplained absence and will result in a detention.
C Students 18 years of age or older will be allowed to sign out for legitimate reasons. Students who abuse this privilege will have it removed.
